Heard a wild flutter of wings this morning as I was waking...and had a feeling the squab had finally taken flight.
Sure enough nothing remains on the balcony but a huge mess, and an abandoned dud of an egg.
It was an interesting experience, but not one I plan to repeat.

One last visit to the nursery?
Yes, this is the squab, not Charles. They do look alike! 

It's a looong way down! 

To fly or not to fly...That is the question. 

1 month old and contemplating its place in the world 

Starting to look like a pigeon at three weeks old. I've seen it exercising its wings so hopefully it won't be long now before it leaves the nest. (Starting to make a mess, and smell...which was inevitable!) 

And she does...I can just hear him saying "Aww mom, I'm too big for that now!" 

A face only a mother could love. 

Almost all gray now...Wonder what kinds of markings it'll have. 

At this rate it won't be long before it's as big as the parents. 

2 weeks old - and a day. 

Almost 2 weeks old...a noisy and hungry teenager. 

And you thought you were having a bad hair day! 

Look ma, I can stand now!! 

Wings are much longer now. 

9 days old and growing. 

Mom thinks baby is adorable no matter what. 

Some babies are so ugly they're cute!

You can see the beginning of the gray colouring showing through and some wing markings. Also, note the abandoned other egg. Looks like it's not going to be twins after all. 

6 days old. Getting bigger and stronger. 

4 days old, and the eyes are beginning to open.
