A little bonding time before Charles takes off for the evening. They appear to spend very little time together at this point.  

More building material...Charles appears to do the majority of the foraging for twigs. 

Charles picks through the remains of an old plant from last year, hoping to find a few useful twigs for the nest. He wasn't too bothered by my presence near the window. 

Okay, I had a little mix-up yesterday, and confused Camilla and Charles. (You try telling pigeons apart and see how well you do!) I now have it clear...This is Camilla with her plain wings. 

Mommy returns as evening approaches. Camilla has a grey back with black spots, unlike Charles's; his is black and white. You can see the two eggs as she prepares to sit on them. 

Charles took a little flight to stretch his wings this lovely sunny afternoon. He was gone for maybe 20 seconds at most...
I think I heard him cooing to Camilla on the next balcony during that interlude, so maybe he was asking when she'd be home.
While he was gone I snatched the opportunity to take a photo of the beginnings of nest building. 

I know it's Charles because his wings are speckled. Apparently females do evenings, overnights, and early mornings while males take care of the afternoon. The eggs are supposed to begin hatching 18 days or so after the second egg is born. 

While Camilla is off for the afternoon, Charles takes charge. 

This afternoon while Camilla egg sat Charles brought her twigs to begin building a safer home for the future heirs.
They were adorable to watch as Camilla took each little twig from him, laid it down in the pot and rubbed his head with hers in praise.
After about half a dozen twigs Charles grew bored of the job, and the encouragement and dumped one on her head.
Camilla took it in his stride and obviously he took it as a signal that he could go off and hang with the boys.
I wonder if they're hanging out on another balcony watching sports through the window?

It's twins!!! 

It was a little tricky to get this shot of mommy. She's mostly gray and very nervous right now. We can keep an eye on each other when I am at the computer and she seems to be getting more accustomed to me being around. 

I came home to find a little present left in one of my balcony flowerpots.
Now I knew the Easter Bunny hadn't left it...
I've been trying, obviously in vain, to disuade a couple of insistent pigeons from setting up home on my balcony since last month...and well, I guess size isn't always the determing factor of who wins.
I guess mom and dad pigeon thought it was a nice sheltered, quiet oasis in the middle of the city. Or perhaps they just knew i was a pushover for nature. And now I'm going to be a pigeon grandma before the month is out. 

Here's a close up of the first egg. It's slightly smaller than a small chicken egg. If all goes as planned, a second egg should join it in a day or so.
